Position Description:

Position Purpose:
Responsible for the design, research and development of advanced new applications resulting in new product/business for the company.

Essential Functions:
1. Plans R&D programs and recommends technological application programs to meet corporate objectives
2. Proactively promotes process initiatives that improve the balance of technical product, cost and schedule
3. Applies cutting edge theories and technologies by exhibiting an exceptional degree of ingenuity, creativity and resourcefulness
4. Champions and develops innovative principles and ideas
5. Often acts independently and exercises wide latitude in determining objectives and approaches to critical assignments
6. As a recognized expert in the field, provides consultative services to senior/executive leaders both within the company and the industry Perform other duties as assigned.

Unique Skills:
The Cabin Development team at Company: In Cabin Development, we design, engineer and certify the next generation of Company cabin interiors. As a Mechanical Systems AR for Cabin Development, you will:
• Review and approve engineering designs for interior compliance aspects
• Interact and coordinate with FAA/DERs/ARs during a certification project
• Coordinate, complete and track certification tasks
• Write/review/approve certification plans, test plans, test reports and prepare related paperwork and forms.

What you'll bring to the team:
• Preferably, you will have been a Company Authorized Representative (AR), a Company AR at another company or an FAA Delegated Engineering Representative (DER)
• Knowledge and understanding of CFR14 - Part 21, 23, 25, 91, 135
• Expertise with aircraft interiors required
• Experience with aircraft mechanical systems (ECS, gasper, oxygen, water/waste, etc)
• Experience with certification activities associated with Supplemental Type Certificates (STC)

Software experience preferred:
• Catia V5
• SmarTeam
• Femap
• Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook)

Education and Experience Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in engineering, a related curriculum required or equivalent combination of appropriate education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Fifteen (15)+ years progressively responsible engineering exp in specific tech discipline with Bachelors. Exp credit considered for related adv degrees limited to 2 yrs Masters, 4 yrs PhD in fields applicable to this job. Requires approval of Eng PRB incl bus justification.

Other Requirements:
1. Advanced degree in engineering or related curriculum preferred
2. The level of technical skill and abilities appropriate for this grade will be established by each discipline.
