Position Description: Seeking an innovative software engineer with broad, in-depth database architecture, design and analysis experience to support the development of Vehicle Health Management Solutions that track and interpret aircraft fault data. This person will need to have experience in the entire life-cycle of database usage, including high-performance databases , complex data management and retrieval as well as data persistence alternatives to the standard relational database system model (e.g., “No-SQL”). The ability to compare design alternatives and an understanding of life cycle performance optimization and tuning issues are key capabilities we are seeking. Databases to be developed include both on-board (semi-realtime to realtime) and off-board engineering analytical systems. Some of these databases will be part of an aircraft avionics system, so experience with large scale real-time systems is desired. Knowledge of modern software development processes (e.g. agile) is desired. Experience with a geographically dispersed development team is desired. Experience analyzing the "state-of-the-art" and providing recommendations to database roadmap activities is desired. Experience with C++ and/or Java is desired.
