Position Description:

The Company Vertical Lift division Chinook Program Product Assurance engineering team in Ridley Park Pennsylvania is seeking qualified candidate(s) to support specialty engineering studies focusing on continued airworthiness, readiness and sustainment of current and emerging Chinook domestic and international variant aircraft. Please note that this position is for temporary employment to support a surge in business requirements. The candidate will engage with our Company supplier management services and will fill a contract engineer (contingent labor) position. The duration of this assignment may span 6 -12 months with a possible extension depending on business requirements. This specific position is NOT a permanent employment position.
Maintenance test pilot, flight engineer experience, or combination of both is required. Detailed knowledge of Chinook aircraft system operation, unscheduled maintenance, troubleshooting, scheduled maintenance, logbook record keeping, and health management data systems is highly desirable.
The candidate will leverage their Chinook operations and maintenance knowledge and collaborate with systems engineering, designers and sustainment services stakeholders to support and enhance the failure management strategy for the H-47 platform. The candidate will team with engineers and analysts performing system safety, reliability, and maintainability, maintenance optimization studies for new and revised design concepts. Candidate will support data exploitation and surveillance of fleet in service performance. The candidate will be a primary player on our specialty engineering team with a focus on learning from factory, delivery center and in-service performance data to include factory quality data, supplier quality data, in service customer maintenance records and A/C health management sensor data sources. A key requirement of this position will be to develop and sustain engineering defined scheduled maintenance and condition based maintenance solutions contributed to the overall H-47 failure management strategy. Candidate will interface and liaise with engineering IPTs in support of the systems, propulsion and structural integrity programs domestic and international military airworthiness articles.
The candidate will research, analyze, and compile engineering technical data, in-service maintenance and sensor data associated with H-47 components and system-level concepts in the projected operational environments to optimize effectiveness over the program lifecycle. The candidate will apply systems engineering processes, methodologies and tools to the design of system of systems, systems and new product development. The candidate will derive and develop Reliability, Maintainability and System Health (RM&SH) requirements, develop business cases for application of Condition Based Maintenance requirements at the Line Replaceable Unit (LRU) and system level by expanding onboard Integrated Vehicle Health Management (IVHM) and off-board platform ground station capabilities. The candidate will develop the planning, scheduling and support change management tasks necessary to accomplish the monitoring and control of the H-47 scheduled maintenance requirements.

The candidate will have relevant Chinook helicopter expertise and knowledge of operations and maintenance support systems to perform field maintenance data analysis, trend analysis, statistical analysis, and root cause corrective action for fielded equipment to improve product quality, reliability, and readiness performance. The candidate will develop reliability and maintainability predictions, Failure Modes Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), Maintenance Task Analysis (MTA), Failure Reporting, Analysis and Corrective Action System (FRACAS) analyses, Level of Repair Analysis (LORA), Reliability Centered Maintenance Analysis (RCMA) using Maintenance Steering Group – 3rd Task Force (MSG-3) methodology, Testability Analysis, Operating and Support (O&S) cost analysis, Life Cycle Cost (LCC) analysis, trade studies, system architecture studies, probabilistic risk assessment and baseline comparative analysis. The candidate will uses the above tools and processes to assess design characteristics and supportability issues/concerns, integrating these considerations into the definition of the product.

Education Requirements: Technical bachelor's degree and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or a Master's degree with typically 3 or more years or a PhD degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A technical degree is defined as any four year degree, or greater, in a mathematics, scientific or information technology field of study. Possession of an Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) license (or equivalent training) is desired.
