Position Description:
This role will work with our team of amazing software and hardware engineers and technicians who design, build, operate and maintain our six engineering flight deck simulators, or “eCabs”. The eCabs are replicas of Company commercial airplane flight decks used for a variety of testing, including flight test certification of scenarios too dangerous for the real airplane.
The Cab Integration Team are the primary customer-facing engineers that support each test session in our eCabs. They support a wide variety of testing and troubleshooting of simulation software, flight deck hardware, and support systems within our facilities.
The Cab Integration team works closely with our customers to configure the simulation and cab hardware for the test session, ensure the data collection systems are configured and operational, and then provide support for any surprises, issues, or problems that occur. These engineers must be fluent in the entirety of the airplane systems simulated or present in each lab as well as the pilot procedures and switch panels and controls for each airplane.
This position will support two-shift operations of our 737 MAX Engineering lab. Familiarity with the MAX airplane and particular flight deck operations is a huge plus.
Your duties will include (but are not limited to):
Power up the lab and ensure all systems are responding.
Configure the flight hardware / simulation software models as requested, and ensure the systems are responding on the busses and the lab is ready.
Prepare any data collection needs for the test team.
Assist the teams in configuring / flying the airplane and collecting the data they need.
Provide the test teams with a deep knowledge of both airplane systems and other cab systems to rapidly solve problems encountered during testing. Cab integrators must know the systems well enough to create real-time workarounds in the event of a session-ending problem, or be able to rally support from other engineers.
Support the test teams as applicable by documenting test results and problems and assisting in troubleshooting problems encountered during testing.
Support the orderly shut-down of systems at the end of the session/day.
