We are seeking a Senior System Safety Engineer to join our team in Plano, TX, Long Beach, CA or Berkeley, MO.

The Company Safety Team wants career engineers interested in exploring and analyzing the design of commercial and military aircraft systems during their development, modification, and operational phases. The team’s broad work statement will have you performing safety analysis at the component, system, and avionics level, on a wide range of different aircraft systems across the entire family of Company and airplanes.

We are looking for innovative and enthusiastic teammates who have unlimited curiosity, and a passion for diving into avionics system and computer level design details to determine the consequences of failures, malfunctions, and defects, who enjoy collaborating with design engineers to help create a robust design of avionics systems.

Position Responsibilities:
Identifies, analyzes, and assesses regulatory and/or contractual compliance of aerospace systems, products and services against the applied development and design assurance standards to provide the necessary hazard mitigation evidence.

Conducts systems research and analysis to identify potential failure conditions or investigate reported in-service fleet hazards, risks, and safety concerns using qualitative and quantitative methods per the safety assessment process.

Identifies safety issue systemic root causes and recommends corrective actions using industry best practices (ARP4761 Commercial and MIL STD-882 for Military).

Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to define, validate, and integrate safety requirements.

Verifies that the system meets or exceeds the defined safety requirements by conducting safety analyses, audits, and reviews.

Creates and maintains aerospace safety tools and resources.

Documents safety analysis, hazard mitigations, and validation and verification activities in compliance with relevant customer and regulatory safety standards.

Demonstrates safety hazard risk mitigation and control methods to the customer and regulators.

Establishes and promotes safety advocacy strategies, training, tools, and methods.

This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.
