Position Description:

The position is for a degreed chemist to conduct chemical analyses in an analytical chemistry laboratory. The type of chemicals an individual would handle would be small laboratory quantities of acids, bases, solvents, etc., typical in the performance of bench-top and instrumental analyses (GCMS, ICP, etc.). The analyses are to support investigative/forensic type of work, not the fabrication or manufacture of chemicals.

Laboratory position in St. Louis for a hands-on analytical chemist. The position involves applying the knowledge of chemistry and physical science to perform analytical chemical testing in support of site operations. This includes performing both complex and routine chemical analyses along with conducting contamination analysis and assessment to support troubleshooting and failure analysis. The individual must have a background in chemical laboratory testing methods/protocols and must be able to take a hands-on approach to laboratory work which includes operating precision laboratory instrumentation including GC/MS, FT-IR, HPLC, ICP, thermal analyzers (TMA, TGA, DSC) and the like. Problem solving skills are essential and the individual must be able to collect, organize and interpret by analytical means the test data gathered. It also requires communicating this information clearly in both verbal and written form. Some daily schedule variations (start and end times); occasional overtime work including weekends and occasional travel may be necessary. Experience with Leco Time-of-Flight mass spectrometers is beneficial.
Requirements:


Chemistry degree. Bachelor's degree and typically 5 or more years' experience in an engineering classification or a Master's degree with typically 3 or more years' experience in an engineering classification or a PhD degree with experience in an engineering classification.
